Abstract:

Report from the 3rd gathering organised in Valencia region (Spain) in the framework of the project “Farmers Ecology”, from October 18th to 20th 2012 by Forum Synergies, Mas de Noguera and Pebrella Consultora.

The gathering aimed at sharing experiences, methods and results obtained by participants in projects hold in Europe. Moreover, participants discussed proposals in order to strengthen exchanges between organizations involved in this issue; and also elaborated proposals for a better integration of local ecological knowledge into public policies.

Agro-ecological management of a territory (wood, water), implementation in agro-pastoral activities (biodiversity and landscape diversity, resources saving practices, varieties adapted to local reality) are examples of topics that were raised.

Farmers Ecology programme works on the collection, transmission and promotion of local knowledge related to agro-ecosystem management. The objective is to disseminate this kind of knowledge and to illustrate its importance for sustainable development locally and globally nowadays.
